KAREN MEETS THE HAIRY BIKERS

On the 18th of August a new series called 'The Hairy Bakers' starts with 'The Hairy Bikers' Dave Myers and Si King. On the 4th programme (8:30pm, 8th September) celebration cakes is the theme. I was asked to help by making a special cake top for a five tier wedding cake Dave and Si had made. I also made a novelty cake for Dave and Si which will be revealed on the programme. Both of my cakes will be on this website from the 9th of September.

This is a programme worth watching for the unlikely cake decorators Si and Dave's wonderful sense of humour and enthusiasm which I feel will encourage other beginners to have a go when they see the superb cake decorated by 'The Hairy Bikers'.

I started cake decorating 20 years ago. Like most people, I attended local classes before gaining distinctions in City & Guilds. I then took teacher training to enable me to organise and teach at many classes. I teach at Birkenhead 6th form college on the Wirral and demonstrate around the country.

I have now written seven books which include the Christmas series ‘A Cake For Christmas’ of which there are now 3. We now also produce moulds of my figures for sugarcraft.
